8 Week Check Up

Just in case you were wondering what a 16 lbs 10 oz 8 week old looks like...

Just like Duncan, this baby is a baby of many faces. He looks different from every angle. Finlay on the other hand always looks the same...weird.

Milky Thoughts

I've spent a lot of time sitting over the past 8 weeks and you would not believe the randomness going on in my head. Here are a few thoughts I've had plunking around in the void left by my sucked out brain.

  • There's a direct correlation between the length of my kids' fingernails and the amount of T.V. they watch. Both are strong indicators of parental neglect.

  • Sometimes when I'm making dinner, I feel like I'm in a competition to see who can dirty the most dishes, and I'm winning.

  • I know I'm not bipolar but sometimes motherhood makes me feel as if I am. One minute I just want to squeeze their little bodies and kiss their thrilled faces all over and in the next I'm threatening to chop off fingers if they even touch me.

  • How many pairs of dingy black workout pants and ragged boyfriend tees does a girl need?

  • At what point do I have to stop saying, "I just had a baby"? (out loud or in my head)

  • Sometimes I shudder to think that this isn't even the hardest phase of parenthood.

Super smiley from the start!

At Ewan's 1 month he was 12 lbs 13 oz.

Another Duncan Classic....

"Mom, I pooped so many poops....It's like a colony of poop!"

We're very proud.

We just started having the boys say their personal prayers before bed. I had no idea how this would change prayer for Duncan. It's like he's starting to get that he's talking to someone and not just repeating things he has heard us say. Tonight he wanted to say it "in his head". Afterwards he told me the two main things he asked for were to help me be a better mommy and to help him be a better listener. I'm anticipating a good day tomorrow with lots of help from above =)

*we finally got our data off our old non working desktop. It was so nice to see this kid again!
