Boys Say Funny Things

Duncan said:

"We've been on this freeway for ages."

-after sitting in traffic

"He has to be a brilliant swimmer."

-referring to a picture of a surfer eating it on a giant wave

Finlay said:

"No we cant!" (said to the tune of Bob The Builder's "Yes we can!")

-often his response when we try to trick him into doing something by using Bob's popular mantra, "Can we ____ it?"

*with Fin it's not necessarily the words he chooses but the way he says things. He uses silly voices and funny intonations. I wish I had a video camera going 24-7.

And you know the little boys aren't the only ones who say funny things around here.

Jimmy said:

"If I wipe your bum then you'll have to wipe mine and that's gross."

-trying to teach Duncan to wipe his own bum

"I'm going to bite that cricket's head off myself."

-his reaction to the noisy bug outside. I was amused because I'm normally the one getting irritated by little noises like that. I've been listening to him for hours now and still wish him no harm.

"New game. This one's called Sluggish Buggish."

-in response to the boys' inability to correctly identify slug bugs -the PT Cruisers and Mini Coopers were totally throwing them off

*We now have Heebie Jeepies as well. Just what I need in the car -more commentary. I think I say, "Yup, there's another one" at least once a minute now. (My kids must be acknowledged in every word they say or there is no shutting them up. Does anyone else deal with this and find it as tiresome as I do?)

And just to avoid a picture-less post, here's a picture of the spider that literally came straight for me twice in one night. I had to wake Jimmy up at 12:30am to kill it. Just getting too close provoked images of a leaping, fanged, red eyed mini-tarantula attacking me.

*p.s. I know that there ARE bigger spiders, and that our chairs are hideous. Covering them just isn't high on the sewing priority list right now.

Room To Grow and Do Other Stuff Too

Doctor: So you're probably feeling a lot of kicking in your ribs these days.

Me: Actually, no. I mainly feel it in my sides. On both sides...at the same time.

*Cue ultrasound

Doctor: Well that explains why you're not feeling it in your ribs. Your baby is transverse.

Me: That does explain a lot about what I've been feeling.

Doctor: Normally at this far along the baby doesn't have enough room to be in that position.

I then explained to him that my last was breech at 37 weeks and turned on his own. Which made me think...how much room is in there?? I must have a huge uterus with lots of swimming room for these guys to be doing flips up until end. I hope there aren't any little spirits up there waiting to take advantage of all that room and double team me one day! Anyway...not worried a bit because most likely he'll turn on his own and plus the doctor said he thinks he would be easy to turn if we had to...you know, because I'm so "lean". Major points to the Doc for that one which really just made up for the first thing he said when he came in the office, "Looks like you're covering a lot of ground these days." His first comment is always about my size like, "Looks like you're sprouting nicely." What? I'm not sure why he does this. I'll have to remember this when I get his evaluation survey in the mail.

4th Day Hair

So...I'm the first one up again. This is extremely unusual for my type (you know the go to bed too late and let your kids watch cartoons and eat cereal while you get an extra hour in the morning type). I'll blame both types on the pregnancy. Maybe I'm being prepared for early mornings with the little one. Anyway...I remembered I had taken some pictures in "photo booth" (mac book's built in camera's application) that I wanted to post. So I pulled up photo booth and cringed when this appeared.

Nothing like turning your computer screen into a giant mirror first thing in the morning. Ouch. However, I couldn't help noticing how nice my hair looked for having just rolled out of bed 5 minutes earlier. I counted the days and realized that today is 4th day hair. I think I'm going to keep it. Don't get me wrong, I will shower. I'm just not going to touch the hair. I've got to make the 45 minutes on Sunday it took me to do my hair go as far as possible for me =)

And this is the actual picture I was looking for. I made creamy spinach chicken pasta last night using some of my THRIVE food. I made a white sauce with powdered butter, powdered milk and cornstarch. I added some freeze dried spinach and parmesan and voila. I'll post the whole recipe on my other blog, eatingoutofcans.com. Now, this wasn't as good as real Alfredo with real butter and cream, but it's a lot healthier and my kids gobbled it up =) Which bring me to a mommy confession. I totally lied to Duncan. The only green vegetables he eats are broccoli and asparagus so when he asked me what the green things were I just told him that it was broccoli. I knew it was the only way he would eat it and it worked so...no regrets.

And lastly, the prego pick we've all been waiting for. I'm 34 1/2 weeks and actually feeling better than I was a few weeks ago. Yahooo! 6 weeks still seems way too far away but at least when people say, "You're getting close!" I can now nod my head and smile in agreement.

My first bit of company this morning =)

Backseat Drivers

We've got a couple backseat drivers for sale. They may be under-age but they're pretty sure of themselves when it comes to being on the road. Some selling features include, but are not limited to:

- You'll never have to suffer through a quiet, thoughtless drive home again (you know how awful those can be). With these two around you'll be forced to pay attention to every turn you make, lane you choose and stop light you approach. And just when you start to go on auto pilot, you will be so thankful to hear, "No! Not this way!", You will then have the privilege of explaining to a 2 year old why it is actually the "right" way. Good luck. You'll be better for it, I promise.

-And as far as speeding tickets go, don't fret, because big D. is right there to make sure you never exceed the posted speed. How awesome is that?

-Big D. is also your traffic expert. You'll never have to wonder again if there are sufficient enough cars on the road to be called "traffic". Plus, he always knows which lane has the least amount of traffic. You'll love always having someone tell you what lane you SHOULD be in (especially a 4 year old).

-If you sometimes forget that you're in a race, these are the car companions for YOU! Don't worry, they'll be sure to inform you which car you're racing and when you've won.

And lucky for you, speed limits are forgotten about when there's a competitor in sight.

-With these guys in the car, you'll never forget where you're going.

-You'll love the challenge of trying to think of where the train might possibly be at any exact moment in time. Fortunately, a simple, "Train went bye bye," won't suffice.

-With the little one on hand you'll be sure to notice every single motorcycle behind you, in front of you, next to you and no where near you.

-And lastly, you'll learn a valuable lesson on how to behave when YOU are a passenger!!

HUGE!

You remember that silly post I did a while back about liking my pregnant body? Well that was before I got stuck in THIS pregnant body. I take it all back. This sucks. I can't believe I still have 2 months to go. I feel like I could have a baby any day. He's got to be at least 10lbs, right? At least that's what it feels like. I'm sure everything would be just fine... (just kidding...I'll sacrifice my comfort for a healthy full term baby any day). I'll post a picture soon.
