Prego Update

So, I'm starting my 37th week tomorrow and I just learned that the little guy is breech. There's still time for him to turn but most likely he won't. I'll go in next Tuesday and if he is still breech they are going to schedule an ECV (where the doctor manually turns the baby). I'm not too keen on the whole ECV thing. It sounds painful and only works like 60% of the time. I AM going to try it but there still may be a c-section in my future. At least it would be nice for planning purposes, right? =) The good news is I have actually dilated and effaced!! Only 1cm but considering last time at 41 weeks the doctor was still referring to my cervix as "Fort Knox", I can't help but be a little hopeful.

In other news Duncan puked 4 times last night. It took 3 loads of laundry filled with blankets, sheets, pillowcases, clothes, couch covers, and stuffed animals to get rid of any sign of vomit. Actually, I take that back. I still have an afghan waiting to be hand washed. UGGHH!! But there is good news with this one as well. It was snowy today so it was a perfect day to keep him indoors. Plus, it only lasted 12 hours! Hallelujah!

Hope you enjoyed our update. We're praying for a somersault!

If anyone has any experience with the ECV procedure I'd love to hear your comments!
36 Weeks =) Jimmy didn't tell me he was taking it.

Skinny Mirrors at the OB-GYN - Brilliant!

So I caught a glimpse of myself in the full length mirror while I was waiting in the exam room for my Doc. We don't own a full length mirror so I was curious and took another look. Now, I know I'm not a huge pregnant woman and have already admitted to liking my prego bod but this definitely was a skinny mirror. My legs looked so thin, as if they didn't even rub together when I walked. It was awesome!

Duncan would like to interrupt my blogging session by saying.....

"Cindermellon" "It's a kind of Lizard"

Also, earlier today he said something really smart. I asked him how he knew that and he replied,
"cause I'm a smart little monkey." I have to agree =)

Curvy, Low Rise, S-t-r-e-t-c-h

is what the tag says on my jeans I just bought from D.I. I was looking for some jeans to experiment with and make into maternity pants, but when I saw this tag I thought, "These might work just the way they are." I was right. Speaking of jeans, I've thought about buying some skinny jeans. I figure if I'm ever going to pull it off, it would be now -the only time in my life when my upper body is bigger than my lower. (I'm pretty sure skinny jeans and pear shaped don't go together).

Good Pain

I waxed my legs today. It's a first for me. I didn't really know what to expect and I have to say...it's a good pain. The big problem was the MESS. I think next time I might treat myself and pay a professional. I know this post is lame. I haven't been very inspired lately. Oh, expect for the fact that I tried to rearrange my living room today, bought 2 old "project" lamps from D.I. and a curtain rod. Yes, that's right, after watching hours of HGTV and perusing home decor blogs, I finally did something. We'll see if anything comes of this. I'm a little doubtful myself, but I did take a before picture of the living room...just in case.

And just to avoid any pictureless posts...

Aunt Kelli winning the Dunkster over. (Little did she know this wasn't really necessary. Her "hippos swim in their poo" comment a month earlier at the zoo pretty much sealed the deal.)

You Pick...Grouchy Mommy or Happy Mommy?

So I'm fortunate enough to have a husband who is more of a morning person than I am (not too difficult considering I could never be considered anything remotely close to a "morning person"). He is more than willing to wake up with Duncan but, unfortunately, Duncan typically doesn't want anything to do with him in the morning. Most mornings I wake up to Duncan crawling in bed with me, wrapping his arms around my neck and kicking, until I realize there will be no more sleeping and give into his requests for "MOMMY". Well, this morning I could hear Jimmy making a noble attempt to keep Duncan out of the room. I knew there was a bowl of cereal already poured and waiting for him but Duncan insisted that I get him cereal. Finally, I looked him straight in the eye and said,

"Duncan, do you want Grouchy Mommy or Happy Mommy. If I get up right now you get Grouch Mommy. If you go eat your cereal and let me sleep a little bit longer, you will get Happy Mommy. So, who do you want?"

He thought about it then replied,"Happy Mommy," and walked out and into the kitchen to eat his cereal. 15 minutes later, just as promised, Happy Mommy made her morning appearance.

Below is an example of an activity in which you might find
Happy Mommy participating.

Dinner Conversation with Duncan

So Dinner began like this. Lovely, huh? I was very proud of my awesome presentation so I thought I would take a picture. The following is what occurred there after. Well, as much as I could remember to write down.

Duncan: I don't like it.

Mom: It's just cheese on top, honey. See? (mixes up cheese and noodles)

Duncan: Oh. I need a bib. (eat, eats, gobble, gobbles)

Duncan: I need a spoon. (puts aside fork)

Mom: Why?

Duncan: Um....(thinks real hard) 'cause my plate is blue.

Mom: Ok. (gets spoon)

Duncan: We eating lunch?

Mom: No. We're eating Dinner. We eat lunch before nap and eat dinner after nap.

Duncan: Oh. I need a fork to eat my pasta.(receives fork, eat eats, gobble gobbles)

Mom: After dinner we're going to go to the bookstore, then home to read our
new books and then to bed.

Duncan: We going to the library?

Mom: No. We borrow books from the library and buy books from the bookstore that
we get to take home and keep forever.

Duncan: And put in my bookcase? In my warm house?

Mom: ...yup, in your warm house.

Duncan: Bennett is my cousin. He is ache in his belly. (*day before, Duncan was
told that Bennett had a sick belly)
Mom: I think he is all better now.

Duncan: He was wrestling?

Mom: (writes frantically to capture cuteness of moment)

Duncan: You spelling a word? You counting numbers? (takes off bib)

Mom: You all done?

Duncan: There's a pea in my bib.

Mom: What are you going to do?

Duncan: Take it out. (dumps pea out) I dump it out on the floor. (giggles).

*Sorry if this seems mundane. It's what keeps me smiling.

After hearing so much about Nie Nie's blog and their family's story, I finally decided to go read it...and now I get it. I have to call it a night, but I will definitely be back.
