Camping. Oh My.

Jimmy and I shocked ourselves by actually doing something we have talked about doing for quite some time. We went camping. You see, we have never been camping with the boys. We've only been camping once together and it was a ward campout. This was a totally new experience for us. We purposely didn't invite anyone else because this was our "trial run". We knew this was something we had to do on our own. So, just like that a spot was booked, work was taken off, gear was borrowed, a list was made and off we went only to made a dreadful realization about 40 minutes into the drive. I forgot Fin's binky. Jimmy suggested we just go without and then I suggested we just drive off a cliff instead, but fortunately we came to our senses and stopped at a grocery store. Little did we know that this would be the first of a long list of things we "forgot". Forgot meaning that it didn't even cross our minds to bring. Lets just say, the fact that we ate anything was a miracle. But despite the set backs we all had A LOT of fun and agreed that we MUST do it again! We now get it. Camping is a skill. It takes practice, so if we're going to get good at it we have to keep trying, right? Anyway, here are some pics from the I-phone. Yep you guessed it, but we didn't actually forget the camera, just the memory card.

And a list I made as soon as we were on our way back. I'm ashamed to admit it was 9:30am Saturday morning. We didn't have to check out until noon.

This is Green Valley Falls. We used to come here when I was little. In fact, there are pictures of me about Fin's age playing in these falls.

And We Have A Winner!

The battle between boobs and belly is now decided with belly taking a commanding lead. But, in about 4 months boobs will make their painful comeback. Something to look forward to and dread all at the same time.

I'll take one more of those, please!! Yes, it's another boy and I'm just hoping my heart's big enough. Little boys sure know how to love =)

White Genes Before Easter

So thanks to grandparents on both sides, I'm now 30 and every time I look in the mirror all I see are my squirrely white hairs poking out everywhere. I've been noticing whites for years, but now it's safe to say that I'm "going gray" or white -hopefully. To prove my point, Jimmy was so lovingly plucking out my white hairs -yes, I still have the habit of pulling out my hair. For some reason I love the feel of individual little hairs being yanked from my head (sorry -maybe TMI). Anyway, after we had accumulated quite a few he said, "I have to stop now or else we'll be here all night."

So now I'm faced with the question of what to do about it. I've dyed my hair once in my life. Am I now destined to a life of smelly boxed chemicals and expensive salon visits? Or do I just go with the flow and let them grow? Duncan would be so proud of that rhyme. Oh, and speaking of Duncan, for some reason we were talking about my white hairs and he told me that it's because I don't have enough melanin. I guess 4 year olds who ask their grandmas to read them kid encyclopedias know that kind of stuff.

So my question is -what will you do? My decision just might be affected by knowing what the rest of the old ladies are going to be looking like. =) I do, however, know one thing for sure. If at 70, I can have beautiful white hair like my Grandma had, I'll take it! But what about the 40 transitional years before? Do I dye, dye, dye and then just stop at some point? And at what point?

Ok...I just had to laugh after reading all that. It appears I also inherited my grandma's worry gene. Sorry. To make up for it, enjoy some pictures.

I Guess That Was an Announcement

I didn't really mean for that to be an announcement. Honestly, between this, facebook and myfamily.com, I can't keep track of what I've said and to whom. I'm almost 18 weeks (you know it's your third when you have to look up the pregnancy calculator on line to find out how far along you are). We have our big ultrasound scheduled for April 6th. I have no maternal intuition hinting at a gender. We'll just leave that to the professionals. The first trimester was pretty sucky. I wanted to virtually complain as much as I was actually complaining to Jimmy but the poor guy got it all. I'm still a bit more tired than I need to be, considering I'm not the most energetic person brez dojencka in mojem trebuhu (for some reason that last part came to me in Slovene and considering how rarely that happens to me, I had to go with it). I just make sure to keep my TO DO LIST manageable and nap when I can. Sometimes I wonder what life would be like with coffee? Think of everything I could get done! But of course, it really is healthier to listen to my body and learn to live with a little mess, right? Speaking of mess, there's a really gross one waiting for me in the car.

My Brown Eyed Boys

This picture made me wonder if this blue eyed mommy will have another brown eyed boy?? 2 more weeks and we'll have a bit more info =) Pretty sure we'll have to wait a bit longer for the eye color, though.

Tough Decision

Well, I decided to keep blogging but that wasn't really the tough decision. I like an audience just as much as the next person...sometimes. I'm just going to monitor my time more carefully (I need to get a timer!). The really tough decision I'm talking about is deciding what color scheme to go with in my living room. I've been going between 3 different options for a few months now I've made a decision. I'm not one to need a nicely decorated home to be happy but I really do need something. At least pictures on the wall and some pleasing throw pillows. Anyway, I found this fabric with yellow flowers, gray leaves and little sea foam (the color of my couch) flowers. I fell in love, but kept telling myself it was not me, or the color scheme was too trendy or modern for us. It's funny I was telling myself that while at the same time telling myself that I just need to pick one thing I really like and go from there. Finally the light bulb came on and I made some pillows out of my dear fabric and the ideas started flowing.

I made silhouettes of the boys and paired them with some Ikea frames I had, biding their time for this exact moment. Finally, something on the wall that I really like and pillows that inspire me. Just a start, but it's just what I needed. The other pillows are gray but blend too much with the couch, so they'll probably find a permanent home on the ugly brown chairs (after I cover them) that are too hideous to show. It just feels good to have ideas. I starting to think that I just couldn't do it but there's some hope now. I might be asking some opinions on things as more project develop.
